Pre-Christmas Wrap-Up
The girls were getting a good workout last night before beginning a 2 week rest which will probably include a lot of eating and sleeping in. We had several stand outs that are worthy of mention, not least of which was the superb scorekeeping teams. Krista, Mackenzie and Georgia were the top scorers in the first game. Also, Kilee made multiple interceptions and break aways; she was a turnover tornado. Emma played back to back games and didn't even play for her own team all night. Sarah scored numerous minor injuries and Rachel scored her first basket. A good time was had by all and there were candy canes for everybody. HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF YOU IN THE NEW YEAR. Don't forget to take a look at the workouts and warmups on the Huskies website to stay in shape for the second half of the season.

Huskies Hit Hagersville
What a fab night of basketball. The Huskies senior girls were on the road to Hagersville and will be returning to McKinnon once more before we rest for the Holidays. We had a few substitute refs ranging in age from the very young to the almost old one; THANK YOU to Emma and Vicki.
Wishes for a speedy recovery, Nicole.

CLINIC
- What a great night of conditioning and defensive drills! We were working on ladder training , slide shuffles, and defense positioning. It was a great workout for everybody to improve their fitness and game performance. A BIG THANK YOU to Coach Dennis and Coach Eugene for their expertise and enthusiasm in setting up the clinic for us.
- Some order forms were collected for Huskies sportswear so Santa must have been at work making his list and checking it twice. Additional orders can still be made although they won't be guaranteed for Christmas delivery. A catalogue and an order form are available from the home page of the Huskies website.
- NEWS!!! To create a more balanced league, members of the leadership team (in consultation with the coaching staff) have redrafted the teams for the remainder of the season. If you are not certain where you were placed, please contact me via the website to find out more about changes in your schedule.

WEEK 3
We were back in Cayuga tonight with great attendance; looks like the girls have all recovered from flu and are back in the game. We had great performances from "elbow-smash Madelyn", "defense demon, Esther", and "here's the pass...oops, it went in the basket, Amy".
The news on the street is that some cool court clothing is going to be available just in time for Christmas. Preview the selection on the website and print out the order form. Complete your order and bring it with cheque or cash on Friday night. All orders that are in by the end of the month will be filled in time to put under the tree.

Week 2
The girls got a good workout last night with very little time on the bench. Top scoring from Nicole, Briley, and Emma. Thank you to the "fill-in fathers". No Huskies basketball this coming week; but stay at the top of your game by following the workouts posted on the website and don't eat all your candy at once.

Season Opener
We started the season with a few glitches, but I was very impressed by everyone's positive approach to rolling with the punches. Players, parents, coaches, and refs deserve a pat on the back.
Team names should be decided this week, so think of something catchy and basketballish.
There are several players on the injuerd and ill list. I wish all of you a speedy recovery so you can get back on the court as soon as possible.

Secret Guest
I have learned the identity of the Guest Coach who is running our skills clinic this Friday at MacKinnon. Here are 3 clues to help you figure out who it is:
- It is not Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, or Kobe Bryant.
- This coach has a level 4 certification which is required to coach Olympic teams.
- He has a mustache.
The 4 teams looked great on Friday night. A few players were missing so they have been assigned, and 1 or 2 trades also took place with slight modifications to player's contracts and signing bonuses. Our game schedule begins October 23rd and you will have to check back for your time slot.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Evaluations
We have completed 5 evaluations so far this season - rebounding, passing, shooting, lay-ups, and dribbling. Your coaches were impressed with not only your skill level but also your ATTITUDE! It is such fun to work with an enthusiastic group of athletes. We will soon see you working together as you become team mates and new uniforms will be given out shortly.
DON"T FORGET that we will be meeting in Cayuga this Friday night from 6:30-9:00.

Getting Started
The senior girls basketball season was just getting started last night - some new registrations, new drills (3-man weave), new balls, and some intense competition (Team Bubbles came out on top with their bean bag count, but their arithmetic may have been off). Your coaching team looks forward to seeing you on Friday night and don't forget your balls!

New Basketball Season (2009-2010)
It's time to start shooting some hoops, girls!
The best part about about heading back to school in September, is that the new basketball season is about to get underway. Early registration in August shows a group of eager dribblers, anxiuos to get onto the court. However, sign ups continue on September 14th and 15th at MPSS.
